| Joy Alfonsi,
Loyal Supporter By Donald R. Jackson,Founding Member
Joy Alfonsi of Niles, Illinois is one of the many animal sponsors who annually renew their pledges to help care for the 100 plus large cats here at Turpentine Creek. Joy is a retired school teacher from the Chicago area. She however stands alone by sponsoring more animals than any other of our supporters. Joy, shown above with two of her friends, Mary Griffin and Chris Hoegh (also a retired school teachers from the Chicago area) and Hobbes, a 600 plus pound male Tiger, now 3 years old. He was sponsored at birth by Ms. Alfonsi.
Tom-Tom and K.C., two recent Cougar arrivals, are the other two cats Joy sponsors. Tom Tom is a seven-month-old Cougar cub and K.C. is only a little over one year of age. These Cats and Turpentine Creek are particularly lucky to have Joy Alfonsi because unlike many sponsors, Joy plans to keep her commitment for the life of the animal. Some folks are caught up by the cuddly sweet cubs but forget that they are still going to need as the mature into adulthood. It is the true test of commitment on the donors part when they can no longer hold and ply with their "Little Darling". Joy still visits Hobbes four or more times a Year and has donated not only of her money but of her time, and good will by brining others to the refuge. Thank you, Joy, for being there for all the Animals here at The Creek Anecdote of the Year After one of our "play And love" sessions, Joy and I were standing on my back porch watching Hobbes (Joys adopted 600# tiger) playing with Lisa Dawn (a Lioness that shares his enclosure) and Joy says to me "Theyre just like real Cats, aren't they". By Don Jackson, I AM your friend if you love GOD and BIG CATS.
