History: Vada came to Turpentine Creek from Superior, Montana. Vada was rescued by the Turpentine Creek rescue team on August 6, 1994. His previous owner, a police officer, met the team in Denver, CO to give him to TCWR. He was in a wooden crate for shipping. He had air holes drilled and a bucket for water. He had been fed 4 chickens before he left Montana. The crate was transferred into Tanyas van and she brought him home. When he was unloaded, a tunnel was made to transfer him into the cage next to Big Boy. When he saw light, he came unglued. He started chewing the door off the crate and knocked it up. The door hit a volunteer in the nose and almost knocked him out. He hit every side of the cage and it had to be immediately reinforced. He was much younger and tougher than BigBoy. He is fully de-clawed and his canine teeth had been filed down. His owner had always gone in with Vada, but as the leopard grew older, he would jump on the man. He said he had to wear leathers when he went in with him. He said that it had gotten to the point that he had to knock Vada down 2 or 3 times every time he went in with him. Vada finally started going for his throat and he decided he needed to find Vada a home and called us. Personal: Since Vadas visit with the dentist, his disposition has continued to improve, although he has always been friendly. He currently has two roommates, Big Boy and Tangure. They seem to get along very well together. Vada enjoys laying on a tree limb that occupies his cage - he will run up there every time Hilda tells him to! He is probably going to have to go back to the dentist, since his teeth seem to be decaying. |
